The Big Boy Crawl

I finally captured it on camera! And it's a 2 for 1 video...you can also see his latest climbing skills.

In a Pickle

Now that Truett is crawling and climbing all over the place, he often gets himself in quite a pickle.  Today would be a great example.  He really thought he could maneuver his way through the kitchen chairs.  It was all fun and games until he reached the end of the table and he found himself royally stuck.  It took some thinking on my part to get him out without any bruises.

8 Months

Truett turned 8 months old yesterday.  I thought about taking his picture all day, but never actually did it until he was about to go to bed.  Truett is soooo active now, so it is difficult getting him to be still for his birthday photo shoot.  As some of you know, he started crawling (the right way) the day before he turned 8 months.  Chad had a perfect video of it, and I accidentally erased it.  I will try to get a good one to put up soon.

Happy Boy

Once again, sorry I have been delinquent in updated photos for Truett.   I'm having a hard timing keeping up with mom's request of a picture a day. I came down with a terrible head cold this weekend and the last thing I have wanted to do was anything that didn't involve my bed and my pillow.  Truett was such a cutie when he woke up from his nap this afternoon, so I had to take a pic.  He loves hanging out in his crib after his nap, because he can hang on to the railing and walk himself around.

The Wool Hat

Some friends of ours came to visit us last year and we had a nice little ski vacation.  At the end of their trip, they decided to do some laundry before they packed up.  It was rather unfortunate that they didn't realize they had washed and dried their nice wool cap.  We all know what happens when wool is washed, but just in case you are unaware, I have a demo below.  Their ruined hat is on the left, and a normal size hat is on the right.  We joked that Truett would be able to wear theirs when he was born.  Well, it turns out it is the perfect little cap for him... and soo warm!

Just a Swingin

We were blessed with another beautiful day...a little cold, but very sunny and gorgeous.   Truett loves to be outside, no matter what the temperature, so we bundled up and went swinging at the park for a few minutes.  Truett had a big smile on his face the whole time, and he would start laughing every time the swing would bring him close to me.  Of course my funny faces probably helped with that.

No Toys Required

Usually, Truett is having the most fun when he is playing with anything other than his toys.  He is starting to really like playing a form of peek-a-boo.  Basically, if his face is covered with something, he gets extremely excited until he figures out a way to get it off.  It's fun until I try to cover his face to go outside when it's really cold.  He just thinks it's a game and flails his arms until he is no longer covered. Maybe that's why his cheeks are always rosy.

Another Day in the Life

Truett and I are having a great day so far. Tuesdays are my day to stay at home and get things done.  Sometimes it's a challenge with an active boy who is starting to get where he wants to go, but fortunately he was having a great time waiting patiently for mommy to get done with the laundry.

The weather is sunny again, so we were able to get out for a walk around town this morning, and Truett had some time to explore the back yard this afternoon.  If I took my eyes off of him for a second, he would try to eat the leaves.  He loves the great outdoors!

Truett Turns 7 Months

Today was Truett's 7 month birthday, but we didn't feel like doing too much celebrating.  He went to get his immunizations yesterday, and it left him feeling pretty crummy today.  We were able to temporarily get some smiles out of him for the brief photo shoot, but most of the day he looked like the second picture.

Truett learned a new trick today.  He can now sit up on his own and go from a sitting position back to laying down, without slamming his head on the ground.

Johnny Jump Up

OK, after I loaded this I noticed that I had deleted the wrong video.  Usually he jumps a lot more than this.  Never mind his outfit....daddy dressed him.  He wanted to make sure Truett was warm, so he had on long johns w/ sweat pants over them, socks pulled up to his knees and a t-shirt.  He certainly was warm enough.  Go Dad!

Bath time is fun time

One activity that is guaranteed to put Truett in a good mood is bath time.  He loves the feel of the water and likes to kick and splash constantly.  Today he found out that if he turns sideways in his bath, he can just hang out and play without sliding around.  This is one of my favorite times with him.

Failure to Communicate

Mom wanted me to get a video of Truett eating real food.  So we set up the pose and I started the video.  Chad, however, though I was going to take a snap shot and interpreted my sitting there with the camera pointed at him as me waiting for the perfect pose.  No, we don't usually withhold food from Truett when he has his mouth open and ready, but Chad was trying to set up the perfect shot.  You'll notice Chad has Truett's arms tucked in beside him...that's because at this point Truett's arms work against the whole feeding process....yes, this is another thing I learned the hard way.

Truett is eating lots of different foods now, and I have yet to find something he doesn't like.  So far he's tried oatmeal and rice cereals, peas, greenbeans, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, apricots, pears, and bananas.

Newest Accomplishments

Below are some of Truett's newest tricks that he has learned.  He can now do a one legged push up....but he still can't crawl.  He often gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth, but just can't figure out how to move the arms without doing a face plant.
We have also been working on sitting up by himself.  We can now leave him sitting there for several minutes before he loses his balance.  He loves being off of his back and tummy, and all is fine and dandy until his head leans over a little too far and he falls over.

Truett is a very social little boy.  He loves being in a crowd of people or playing with anyone who will give him attention.  His friend, Brecken, came over to play yesterday.  When I say friend, I don't know if either of them really acknowledge the other as a person, but they have fun playing anyway.  Truett was nice enough to let Brecken play in the saucer, however he wasn't so nice when he pulled Brecken's hair a few minutes later.  Brecken didn't just sit idly by, though, he gave Truett a poke in the eye to teach him a lesson.

The saucer is one of Truett's favorite toys.  He loves putting the toys in his mouth and most recently loves to jump up and down in it.  See what I mean:

Truett's Blog

I set up this blog primarily for the grandmas and whoever else wishes they could be here to see how Truett is growing and learning.  I didn't feel like overwhelming our family blog with pictures and videos of Truett, so this is just a site for those interested in the little things.

I wish you could see Truett when he first wakes up in the morning.  He is generally in a great mood and and he will play quietly in his crib until I come to get him.  Here's a video of what I'm talking about:
